Don’t: Take Blood Thinners It’s important not to take blood thinners or Aspirin, Vitamin D and Fish Oil a few days before your anti-wrinkle injections. This will help avoid bruising and improve the healing process. Alcohol and caffeine also act as blood thinners so avoid them 12 hours prior to your appointment. Don’t: Wear makeup to your appointment before any injections to avoid risk of infection. Your doctor will clean the skin with alcohol or an antiseptic. Don’t: Apply anything that may contain bacteria to your face. Cosmetics are not completely sterile so it’s best to avoid for 24 hours following an injection. Don’t: Exercise rigorously after getting an injection. Perspiration can introduce bacteria into the injection site, increasing your risk of infection. Don’t: Get chemical peels, microdermabrasion, facials etc. for 24 hours. Don’t: Get anti-wrinkle injections if you are pregnant or breast feeding. *Call your doctor if you experience any side effects from you anti-wrinkle injections.
